FlexiSail West Country Cruise
This summer, three FlexiSail yachts set off on a memorable West Country cruise, giving members the chance to explore some of the UK’s most beautiful and characterful sailing destinations. Invincible (Hanse 418), Varvassi (Hanse 418), and Deux Amis (Hanse 348) formed a small flotilla, bringing together members for an unforgettable adventure on the water.
Setting Off from the Solent
The cruise began with a familiar passage to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight—an ideal first stop to gather the crews and enjoy the lively harbour atmosphere before heading west. With excitement building and weather on their side, the three yachts prepared for longer legs along the south coast.
Torquay – Sunshine on the Riviera
From Yarmouth, the flotilla made passage to Torquay, the heart of the English Riviera. Known for its palm-lined seafront and bustling marina, this was the perfect place to stretch legs ashore, enjoy a good meal, and soak up a true holiday atmosphere.
Dartmouth – Steeped in History
Next stop was the stunning natural harbour at Dartmouth. With its rich maritime history, charming waterfront, and the impressive backdrop of Dartmouth Castle, members enjoyed exploring ashore as much as they enjoyed the approach by sea. For many, sailing up the River Dart was a real highlight of the trip.
Salcombe – A True Gem
The cruise concluded at Salcombe, one of the most picturesque sailing towns in the country. The sheltered harbour, sandy beaches, and vibrant town centre made for a perfect finale to the voyage. Members enjoyed everything from quiet anchorages to lively evenings ashore, before preparing for the return journey.
More Than Just Sailing
As always with FlexiSail, the cruise wasn’t just about the destinations—it was about the shared experience. Crews swapped stories over dinners ashore, supported one another on passages, and enjoyed the camaraderie that comes with cruising as part of a small fleet.
