Woolverstone Marina nestles in parkland on the River Orwell, just south of the market town of Ipswich
Woolverstone Marina is set in 22 acres of glorious parkland on the picturesque River Orwell, providing sheltered berthing with a wonderful outlook just a couple of miles south of the pretty market town of Ipswich. The marina is located within easy reach of the sea and a multitude of scenic destinations – this is a great base to start cruising.
The marina has all the facilities that you would expect, and of course our yacht Réjane Rose is berthed on a walk on pontoon. If you choose to just relax on board, the RSPB reserves, ‘Constable’ country and the Heritage Coastal hotspots of Aldeburgh, Southwold and Orford are all easily accessible.
Close by is the River Stour, which is particularly scenic, and there are numerous creeks in the Walton Backwaters to explore.
To the south, the Colne and Blackwater estuaries offer varied sailing, while turning north takes you towards the River Deben where you can cruise upriver past Ramsholt to the pretty town of Woodbridge.
Alternatively, MDL’s Chatham Maritime Marina, where you can enjoy free berthing, is situated on the River Medway in Kent, and is just a day’s cruise away.
A little further up the coast is the Ore/Alde River, where a fast tide sweeps you past Havergate Island, up to picturesque Orford and on to Aldeburgh. If you’d like to go further afield, Ostend in Belgium is only 92 miles away from Woolverstone, whilst Holland and France are also within easy reach.
