Jast
Jeanneau have over the past years taken an ever increasing share of the market. The reason being is that their product range is second to none, and often more practical than other manufacturers, such as the amount of handholds and access for maintenance. The Sun Odyssey 409 is a prime example. Jeanneau develop their design carefully and methodically producing great boats to sail that are also very practical, with each new model an improvement on the last.
At the beginning of 2020 Jast undertook a refurbishment programme with the latest equipment being added, including new Raymarine instrumentation and a new Vectron genoa. The interior has also been updated with new upholstery for the cabins and interior detailing.
Specifications
The key innovations on the 409 are that they have rethought the deck and sail plans to produce a fast, but incredibly easy boat to handle. The ‘German’ main sheet system means that the helm has full control of the mainsail at all times – very useful when your crew has popped down below and you need to make an adjustment! With 3 large double cabins and a convertible saloon and two heads you can comfortably sleep 8.
Jast is coded for 10, 8 sleeping to category 2 (60 miles from a safe haven). Her long waterline length makes her a very comfortable long distance cruiser that cuts nicely through short chop.
