When you take out a FlexiSail Mentored Training Package at the same time as your membership we will incorporate your 2 days of induction as part of your training, effectively adding 2 days of instruction to your training package. This makes better use of your induction time, adding yet more value.
- First day:- Maintenance day with a member of our maintenance team, guiding you through all the boat systems

Here you have everything that you need bundled together for your convenience and cost saving. Training is carried out on your FlexiSail boat in your membership time.
“Joining Flexisail and going through the training course to achieve our Day Skipper qualification has been both exciting and immensely satisfying. Doing that with our two small boys (aged 5 and 6) has been a challenge, but quite possible because of the patience and mellow attitude of our instructors.
We’ve had great fun sailing together as a family, and are now almost capable of taking the boat out by ourselves, with the little boys staying out of the way at the very least, and at most being able to play an active part in our sailing.
Our Flexisail instructors, Alasdair, Tony and Andy have been incredibly patient and laid-back and have inspired confidence and progress in Charlie and Freddie to the point that they can contribute and achieve things themselves, which in turn makes our sailing even more enjoyable. That’s quite an achievement given that Freddie is only just 5, and Charlie, 6, suffers from a mild form of Dyspraxia which makes him really nervous when he can’t “find his feet” properly.
I can’t think of an easier, more cost effective or more fun way of learning to sail together as a family. Now we are (almost) qualified, we can look forward to a summer of sailing fun in 2012.”

From experience the expectation is that you will achieve your Day Skipper certificate to a ‘plus’ standard well beyond what could be achieved using the traditional sail training methods. You can expect to have the confidence and ability to happily skipper your yacht with your family and friends. Your family will also achieve substantial training from the package. We may request to do some of the training on a one to one basis.

“We’d been out in dinghies a couple of times last summer and that, as much as a good lunch at the Southampton Boat Show was what led us to sign up for FlexiSail membership on a lazy, sunny afternoon last September. Our initial impression was of a warm welcome and we were particularly impressed that existing FlexiSail members were on hand to relate their own experiences.
The following day we did get one of those “What have we done?!” moments and we started to worry about logistics and whether we’d be up to the training regime, but we need not have worried. A briefing session with Alasdair, FlexiSail’s Chief Instructor boosted our confidence and prepared us for our initial weekend of family instruction.
Now, a couple of months later, we are well into our training programme and would heartily recommend it to any family thinking of learning together. We have been impressed by the way that each of our individual training needs has been addressed and we are becoming a team out on the water. What has also become apparent when talking to other people learning to sail is that the family mentored training package gives each member of the crew a great deal of experience in their chosen role. For example if one person is training as a day skipper they will get a great deal more hands-on experience than going out with four other prospective day skippers on an intensive course.
In summary, we have found that Flexisail combines efficient professionalism with a family-friendly approach. The boats are superbly maintained and without exception the instructors we have met have been cheerful, friendly and most importantly, patient. All in all we have found Flexisail an ideal introduction to family sailing.”

Your Instructor training can be broken up into several periods at a minimum you must do either 3 times 2 days or a 5 day block, the remaining training we will deliver as to what fits into your lifestyle.
You can add to your chosen package with additional places on courses such as the Sea Survival etc at our members discounted level. Just ask for details.

y that your package of four two day segments spread out over Spring through to Autumn suits me very well time wise, and gives me a wider experience of weather and sailing conditions to contend with. Much better than the five day comprehensive “tick the boxes” programmes offered elsewhere. I think the whole package offers great value for money.
I also appreciate the on-going assessments after each return to port, which gives you something to think about and work on before the next trip. I like the way that the instructors have a hands off until needed approach, which lets you learn by error but not get into too much trouble.
I particularly enjoy handling the boat, passage planning or setting a course with other FlexiSail members. Everyone helps each other, and I have met some brilliant people who I would be very happy to sail with again.
