We will be organising some JOG offshore racing on Nick Gale’s Sigma 38, Zanzara, which will take place over the summer months. The races vary from 1 to 3 day events and are all very exciting.

Round the Island Race on ‘Zanzara’

24th - 26th June, 2011

Sunrise with 1800 yachts all milling around the Cowes start line is simply awesome, and the start of one of the most fantastic experiences that you can have sailing. We are offering members the chance to take part in Round the Island Race (around the Isle of Wight) on Zanzara, a Sigma 38 that is owned and skippered by Nick Gale, our Fleet Manager. The Sigma 38 is one of the few yachts that manages to combine the excitement of one design racing with relatively comfortable cruising.

The boat will leave Hamble Point Marina for a training day on Friday 24^th and will overnight in Cowes (members are welcome to stay onboard), followed by the race on the Saturday and again overnighting in Cowes. On the Sunday the Sigma 38 Association have a one design regatta run by the Royal London Yacht Club and this will be a series of 3 races. Racing in class is one of the best forms of racing as the first over the line has won, with no handicaps to calculate. The Sigma 38 is a competitive fleet of evenly matched yachts and it is all very exciting. This third day is totally optional for members.

To include an event on the Solent, rafting up in Lymington late afternoon for drinks, followed by dinner and prize giving at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club

Assisted Channel Crossing

2nd – 6th June, 2011

Last year we had 7 yachts, which all went to Cherbourg, followed by an organised delicious lunch at the Cherbourg Yacht Club. This year we will have an ‘armada’ of 10 yachts crossing to St Peter Port, Guernsey and we have organised a dinner for everyone at the Guernsey Yacht Club, with its beautiful views of the harbour and castle. We have extended the cruise this year by one day so that everyone can enjoy visiting the island.

Winter Skiing

Sunday 13th - Sunday 20th March, 2011

The first FlexiSail Members ski trip will be on 13th March 2011 for one week in the lovely alpine village of Vaujany, part of the extensive Alpe d’Huez ski area in France. The holiday will be organised by Sue, who worked for Ski Peak for 10 years. Ski Peak are the Vaujany resort specialists and are a very up-market company who will look after your every needs.
