Prices

Our membership fees reflect the cost of the quality boats that we bring into the FlexiSail programme, the commitment that we make to maintain our boats to the very highest standard and the premier locations that we sail from. Our RYA Training Centre (Solent Nautical College) and active social programme combine to deliver a membership cost that represents exceptional value to you.

As a guideline your membership fee for over 6 weeks sailing a year is no more than the annual berthing cost charged by the marina! Membership may be paid annually in advance (for a 5% saving) or monthly if preferred.

We believe that the standards we maintain throughout our fleet via a structured and high level of planned preventative maintenance sets us apart from our competitors. We actively encourage you to see for yourself the quality and standard of our boats as we believe you cannot fail to be impressed. Properly maintained boats are of paramount importance as your safety should never be compromised and you will find that all our boats exceed the minimum, high standards required by the Marine Agency under their code of practice.

Our membership costs range from £525 per calendar month for a Beneteau Oceanis 323 (32 foot) up to £825 per calendar month for an Oceanis 43 (43 foot). Please download our PDF file ’2011 Prices’ for a full detailed schedule.

Prices include VAT, gas and fuel (except on the motor cruisers where a fuel charge is payable per litre). You have nothing else to pay and your commitment is just for 12 months.

Your only additional liability is the insurance excess of £1000 for sail and £1500 for power. We find that 90% of all accidents happen in the marina whilst berthing and are usually a scratch or chip caused by catching something on the way in or out. Our staff will sort out the damage for you and you will only be charged for the actual cost of the repair, be it £50 or £150.

We do not have any joining fee or annual fee, but when you first join we provide a 2-day induction with one of our instructors to ensure that you are properly familiar with all the safety features of the boat and you are comfortable with your boat handling. The cost is £700 including VAT.

With your induction completed, and assuming that you are already qualified to Day Skipper Practical (tidal) or higher you will then be free to book through our online iCalendar. However, if you are a novice, following on from the induction we will take you through your RYA training — a training programme that we will carry out with you on your FlexiSail yacht ensuring that you are safe and competent before you take responsibility for the boat yourself. Please click on our ‘Training’ page for more detailed information.

Our FlexiSail Promise

We have absolute conviction in our product and believe that you will be delighted at the pristine condition of our boats, impressed with the quality of our dedicated training, enjoy our fun social programme and appreciate the very personal way that we run our business.

However, we do not expect you to simply take our word for it or take a financial risk to find out. We therefore provide three key guarantees to you.

Guarantee 1

Our reservation fee of £250 that ensures your place on the boat of your choice is fully refundable. All we ask is that you let us know within 14 days of receiving the FlexiSail Agreement if you do not want to proceed and we will refund your £250.

Guarantee 2

On signing your agreement with us you will have prepaid for your 2-day induction course. Provided that you advise us at least 48 hours before the start of your induction that you wish to cancel we will fully refund your £700 induction course fee.

Guarantee 3

All other fees paid in advance, including the reservation fee, membership fees, any training fees etc, (only excluding the £700 cost of your 2-day induction), are fully refundable. All we ask is that you let us know within 48 hours of completing your induction if you do not wish to proceed, following which we will return your fees and cancel your contract.

You might be wondering why are we taking the risk and shouldering the cost if you decide not to proceed? We simply think that if we didn’t sufficiently believe in our product to risk our own money, then why should we expect you to! We know that like our many existing enthusiastic members you too will be delighted with FlexiSail.

If you are interested to find out more, the typical process is:

  • Call to have an informal chat to discuss your needs, ask questions and get a better understanding of FlexiSail and how it could work for you
  • We will send you our CD and/or brochure, containing a wealth of information about FlexiSail, our social programme, and Solent Nautical College, our RYA training centre. You can request this via the website or download from the website if you prefer
  • Arrange to visit us either at Hamble or Lymington to view the boats, ask more questions and see our iCalendar live on the boat that you might be interested in. ‘Open Days‘ are a good time to see us as we will have a selection of different models available for you to view. However, we are always pleased to make a personal appointment with you at any time when we will have more time to spend with you
  • Take time to decide if FlexiSail is for you. There is absolutely no obligation, we just want to make sure that you have all the information you need in order make an informed decision
  • If you would like to go ahead you will need to discuss with us the availability on the boats that you would be interested in, or decide which boat you would like to join, and provide a £250 initial deposit to ensure your place is held. This you can do when you are with us or by credit/debit card over the phone. We will then post your Agreement and other membership documents including your personal Membership Manual. Remember, if you change your mind the £250 is fully refundable. All we ask is that you advise us in writing within 14 days of receiving the paperwork
  • Agree with us your 2-day induction dates, any applicable RYA training dates and return your Membership Agreement with your payment. We will then send out your own boat key and details of our social programme, which is a great way to short circuit getting to know other members and to get the most out of your membership. Remember this is a no risk situation for you other than for your induction course, which is effectively a subsidised 2 day charter with an instructor!
  • On completion of your induction and RYA training, if required, you are then free to make bookings and your FlexiSail membership is underway!
